After a two-year break, voters returned Tyler Diep to the Midway City Sanitary District (MCSD) in November 2020.  Previously, Diep served three consecutive four-year terms on the MCSD board of directors from 2006 to 2018.

Professionally, Tyler Diep is an executive at Astiva Health, a start-up Medicare Advantage health plan that is licensed to service patients in San Diego and Orange counties.

His responsibilities at Astiva include handling special projects for the Board of Directors and overseeing the Sales, Marketing and Provider Relations department. At the conclusion of 2022, Tyler tripled the membership of Astiva from 1,000 to over 3,000 lives.

Tyler brings with him nearly two decades of political and public sector experience. He began his career as an aide for a state Assemblyman, then as an information officer for a California Board of Equalization Member, and finally as a senior adviser to the Chair of the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

Simultaneously to his professional career in the public sector, Tyler was also elected to the Midway City Sanitary District and went on to serve as Councilman and Vice Mayor of the City of Westminster.

Against the political “blue tsunami” of 2018 in California, he was the only Republican candidate to be elected to the Legislature.

During his two-year term in the state Assembly, Tyler built a moderate voting record that reflected his constituents and is known to work across party lines to seek solutions plaguing our State. In the aftermath of January 6th 2021, he unaffiliated himself with the Republican Party and became an independent later that year.

In addition to his full time duties at Astiva Health, Tyler is also a news anchor at Vietface TV, a Vietnamese-language television station in Orange County.

Tyler immigrated to the United States with his parents. He graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration.
