Tyler Diep
Tyler Diep was overwhelmingly re-elected to the Midway City Sanitary District (MCSD) in the November 2024 election. He had previously served three consecutive four-year terms on the MCSD Board of Directors from 2006 to 2018, and again from 2020 to 2024.
Throughout his tenure, the people of Westminster and Midway City pay significantly less for weekly trash pickup service when compared to their neighbors in surrounding cities. The Orange County Taxpayers Association, a respected civic watchdog group, recently recognized MCSD for having one of the lowest trash fees in Orange County.
Tyler immigrated to the United States with his parents and later earned a bachelor’s degree in public administration from San Diego State University. He currently serves as an executive at Astiva Health, a start-up Medicare Advantage health plan licensed to service patients in various counties throughout California. He plays a key role in managing special projects for the Board of Directors and supervising the Sales, Marketing, and Provider Relations department.
Tyler brings more than two decades of experience in politics and public service to his position. His career highlights include serving as an aide to a state Assemblyman, an information officer for a member of the California Board of Equalization, and a policy adviser for two supervisors in Orange County.
Simultaneously to his professional career in the public sector, Tyler also served as Councilman and Vice Mayor of the City of Westminster from 2008 to 2012 and again from 2014 to 2018.
Against the political “blue tsunami” of 2018 in California, he was the only Republican candidate to be elected to the Legislature.
During his two-year tenure in the state Assembly, Tyler developed a moderate voting record that aligned with the interests of his constituents and gained a reputation for collaborating across party lines to address the state's challenges. Following the 2020 Presidential Election, he unaffiliated himself from the Republican Party and became an independent later that year.
