Tyler Diep

Tyler Diep was overwhelmingly re elected to the Midway City Sanitary District MCSD in the November 2024 election, reflecting the community’s continued confidence in his leadership to responsible local governance. He previously served three consecutive four year terms on the MCSD Board of Directors from 2006 to 2018, and again from 2020 to 2024.
During his tenure, residents of Westminster and Midway City have benefited from some of the lowest trash collection rates in Orange County while still receiving reliable weekly service. The Orange County Taxpayers Association, a respected civic watchdog organization, has recognized MCSD for maintaining one of the lowest trash fees in the county, an outcome Tyler views as a direct result of fiscal discipline and accountability to ratepayers.
An immigrant to the United States, Tyler came to this country legally with his parents and later earned a bachelor’s degree in public administration from San Diego State University.
Tyler brings more than two decades of experience in politics and public service. His career includes roles as an aide to a state Assemblyman, an information officer for a member of the California Board of Equalization, and a policy adviser to two Orange County supervisors, where he worked on issues affecting local communities and taxpayers.
In addition to his professional public sector career, Tyler served the City of Westminster as a Councilman and Vice Mayor from 2008 to 2012 and again from 2014 to 2018. In 2018, amid a challenging political climate, he was the only Republican elected to the California Legislature. During his two year term in the State Assembly, Tyler earned a reputation as a pragmatic, independent minded lawmaker with a moderate voting record who worked across party lines to address California’s challenges. Following the 2020 presidential election, he formally left the Republican Party and became an independent.
Outside of elected office, Tyler is a California licensed health insurance broker specializing in Medicare Advantage. In this role, he helps seniors navigate complex healthcare options and find plans that best meet their needs, continuing his commitment to service beyond government.
